Salvation

Your Next Step in Faith

Congratulations! God is pleased, and His angels are celebrating your decision to make Jesus your Lord and Savior. We are all excited that you’ve settled your eternal destination. You’ve made Heaven your final home, but there’s more.

Salvation is far more than securing Heaven. Jesus provided salvation and victory for you this side of Heaven too. God has many promises and good things waiting. He wants you to experience heaven during your days here on earth.

The first gift God gave us was Jesus. The second is the Baptism of Holy Spirit. Often in life it seems we lack understanding. There are times when we don’t know how to pray or receive the promises that God made. For that very purpose God gave us His Holy Spirit.

Holy Spirit comes to dwell in us when we’re born again. There’s also an additional experience, the baptism of Holy Spirit, that we’re privileged to enjoy. This is when we allow ourselves to be completely immersed in Him. The difference is that at salvation, He indwells us, and at the Baptism, we immerse ourselves in Him. When we give ourselves to Holy Spirit, He gives us a special prayer language called tongues. It’s the language of the spirit that the devil can’t understand.

The only requirement for receiving Holy Spirit’s baptism is that you’re born again. If you’d like this special gift and prayer language, pray the prayer that follows.

Say out loud: I am now reborn and Your child Father God. I ask You for the gift of your Holy Spirit. Holy Spirit, immerse me with Yourself as I praise God. Thank You Father for Your Holy Spirit. I expect to speak in other tongues as You give me the utterance.

Now, lift your hands toward heaven as if you were a child and you wanted your Father to pick you up. Say thank You and start praising God for His Holy Spirit. Praising God might sound something like this: Father I thank you for Jesus. Thank you for sending Your Holy Spirit and giving me my prayer language. You are a wonderful Father. Thank you for loving me. You are so good to me. Halleluiah, halleluiah, halleluiah…

Keep saying halleluiah with your own voice. As you sense an urge rising from your belly area, allow yourself to give sound to whatever you sense. As you yield your tongue, you’ll speak syllables and word sounds that are not your natural language. They’ll rise up and want release from your mouth. You have to use your own voice. You have to release the utterances the same as you’d release words in a conversation. Holy Spirit won’t force you. It’s a gentle nudge or prompting which you allow to rise and come out of your mouth.

Stay with the syllables. Don’t be concerned with how it sounds. Like with our babies, God’s babies don’t come with a full vocabulary. I only had three little syllables at first. The sounds you make are the language Holy Spirit gives you and it will develop as you practice—every day.

You are a born again, Spirit-filled believer. Your life will never be the same.

If you don’t have a church, I encourage you to get connected with a church that believes the Bible. A church where you can learn and grow.
