Living His Promises

It was a typical fall day in Michigan. The sun’s beautiful rays didn’t even try to peak from their perch behind the gray overcast sky. The chilly air hinted of old man winter’s approach and the season’s first snowflakes. My family and I had just moved 1100 miles from Oklahoma to an area where I grew up. I was riding a cloud called nine. I was home.

We pulled into the street side parking that paralleled the front of the run-down house we’d had just enough money to rent. Closing the door of my husband’s business in Oklahoma also meant closing the door on our income. We moved on sheer faith. So it hit me like a breath of fresh air when the Word of the Lord came to my spirit. 2 Corinthians 9:8.
I’d asked Father God for a promise to stand on. We needed everything. That included food, jobs, money, a school, a church and our own home. I jumped out of the truck and ran into the house and looked up that verse. I memorized it. I meditated it. I declared and decreed it hundreds of times. I got my mouth and heart in agreement with God’s promise.
“And God is able to make all grace (every favor and earthly blessing) come to you in abundance, so that you may always and under all circumstances and whatever the need be self-sufficient [possessing enough to require no aid or support and furnished in abundance for every good work and charitable donation] (AMP).”

I loved it. The Scripture was a new one for me, and a perfect fit for our needful situation. In the face of every challenge, every need and every obstacle we encountered, I reminded myself of God’s promise and His faithfulness to provide. Putting God’s Word in my mouth allowed it entrance into my heart.

God’s Word never fails. He brought favor, blessing and abundance into our lives starting with an amazing, grace church first. Having a pastor who knew his authority and understood who he was in Christ was my priority and God met it.

Months before we moved I started believing God that John would have a successful real estate career. I also wanted to build a house. I asked Father for a dollar amount to plant as seed so we’d have everything we needed plus the land and money to build the house.

“John, God said to plant $100 into Kenneth Copeland’s building fund as seed for our building fund in Michigan,” I said.

A hundred dollars was a lot of money at that time but he agreed.

When we planted the seed I began standing on God’s promises for abundance. I believed that John was the most successful real estate agent in his area. After our move he took the real estate class and passed the license exam. The fees and start up costs to get started were beyond our budget. But that hundred dollar seed gave God an opportunity to open the floodgates and show Himself strong on our behalf.

God gave John such favor with the broker of a local real estate company they paid his fees because they wanted him at their office. Things began to skyrocket.

“I was pleasantly surprised to see your husband’s real estate signs up and down Gratiot,” a man I worked with said.

“So it’s your husband who is making the splash,” another said.

Yes, John seemed to take over the market in his area. He had favor with most everyone. His first full year selling real estate the office had to tally the sales totals several times. John’s sales were within a few dollars of their office’s normal top agent’s sales. He came in second, but it rattled some nerves.

The one hundred dollar seed we planted also gave us favor to purchase land. Land is very difficult to finance because there’s no structure of value on it for collateral. Again, God gave us favor with a private lender and within three years we built a home on thirty-eight acres.

The man we worked with from the builders supply company said, “When someone builds a house one or two items might be at a low cost. But everything was at an all time low when you needed it.” He shook his head almost in disbelief at our good fortune. He’d never seen such a thing before.

God honors faith and trust in his Word.

I was thankful God had already taught me how to live His promises. I knew Father God was ready, willing and able to meet all of our needs and make His grace abound to us. He’s no respecter of persons. His promises ensured our success. What He did, and continues to do for me, He will do for anyone who dares to take Him at His Word.

God wants all of us to have and enjoy Everything Jesus Died To Give Us. Jesus’ work is finished and we’re free to receive God’s grace, and every favor and earthly blessing in abundance. If there’s a catch it’s that we have to do things His way.

Are there desires of your heart that long to be met? Are there areas that God wants to show Himself strong or stronger on your behalf? God’s provision is limitless and includes everything that pertains to life and godliness. Do you know how to take God’s promises to ensure your success? No matter the circumstance we need only take Him at His Word.
