BLOG A BOOK: What Do You Believe? Chapter Seven

ONLY GOOD

Did you know that God only desires good things for you?

God had a plan for Abraham and Sarah. For that plan to come to pass, they had to learn how to cooperate with God. God changed Abraham and Sarah’s mindset and the opinion they had of themselves with words. In chapter one we saw that God accomplished the shift in their thinking by changing what they called themselves. Every time they heard their new name, they heard their new identity.

God has a plan for each one of us. Whosoever will learn to cooperate with God, will bring God’s plan into their reality. He never forces us to receive what He has for us.

“For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord. They are plans for good and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope,” (Jeremiah 29:11 TLB).

But not all of God’s children experience the good life that that scripture promises.

Like any good father, our Heavenly Father wants us to be happy, healthy, prosperous and joyful throughout the seasons of our lives.

There was a time when I didn’t experience the good life or even know it was attainable. I didn’t know this scripture existed or that God cared about me.

If no one’s ever told you that God loves you and that He has a good future planned for you—let me tell you.

God loves you! He has a wonderful life planned for you! If you’re not experiencing the good life God’s Word promises, get on board!

He cares so much about you that He’s withheld nothing to pursue you and tell you that He’s over-the-top in-love with you. He loves you so much that He gave His only begotten Son, Jesus, to rescue you from the kingdom of darkness.

Maybe you’ve had a great life and are just discovering God has even more for you. Maybe the past few years haven’t been good years. Maybe you have to go back quite a few years to find a good one, if you can find one at all.

Maybe you just need to know that God loves you and has joy and happiness for you. Maybe you just want a fresh new start in life.

The good news is that it’s never too late with God. He can open the right doors to the custom fit plan He’s designed especially for you.

Even though I didn’t know about the promises that God made me, His promise in Jeremiah was there waiting for me to discover.

It laid dormant, waiting for me to take God up on it!

Waiting for me to plant that hope in my heart!

Waiting for me to enjoy the harvest of His promise!

The wait for you can be over like it was for me.

Hesitate no longer!  Just say: Yes Lord! I need a course correction. I want the good plans that You have for me. I want everything You’ve promised in Your WORD that belongs to me. Teach me your ways! In Jesus Name, amen.

Every day, throughout your day, keep thanking God by making your words a declaration from Jeremiah 29:11.

Father God, thank You for the plans you have for me. I thank You that You are bringing them to pass even as I speak. I thank You Father that they are plans for good and not for evil. Plans to give me a future and a hope, an expected end. I choose to walk in Your plan for my life. I receive it now.

You’ll be using your words to call things that be not as though they are.

If something negative happens remind yourself that God has a good plan for you. Shout it out and let everything within the sound of your voice know that you’ve put your faith and trust in God. That’s a great way to begin fresh any time and stay strong.

Giving Holy Spirit Control of Your Tongue

There’s only one stipulation to giving Holy Spirit control of your tongue. You must first surrender your life to the Lord Jesus Christ. It’s super easy!

If you’ve never received Jesus as the Lord of your life, or if you’re not sure that you’re what the Bible calls born-again—come to Jesus now. Maybe you’d like to come to Him and recommit your life to doing things His way. Just believe in your heart and say a simple prayer—with words!

“But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith which we preach): that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved” (Romans 10:8-9 emphasis mine).

Call out to God and say, “God, I believe in my heart and I confess with my mouth that Jesus is the Son of God who came in the flesh. I believe that He died in my place and that You God, raised Him from the dead. Come into my heart. I believe I am now your child. I believe that by His stripes I am healed now. I am saved and born again by your Holy Spirit. I believe you are a forgiver and forgetter of sins. I ask you to forgive me of all my sins that are known and unknown to me. Take my life and teach me how to receive all Jesus died to give.”

God doesn’t lie. If you believe in your heart and confess Jesus as your Lord with your mouth you are now His child. He says He blots out sin and chooses not to remember (Hebrews 8:12). He does this so that He can be close to you. Now trust Him.

Holy Spirit Take The Wheel

John the Baptist said that he baptized with water but that Jesus baptizes with the Holy Spirit and fire (Matthew 3:11, John 1:29-34).

“I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire (Matthew 3:11 NKJV).

The only requirement for receiving Holy Spirit’s baptism is to be born again. If you’d like this special gift and to allow Holy Spirit control of your tongue, pray the prayer that follows.

Say out loud: I am now reborn and Your child Father God. I ask You for the gift of the Holy Spirit. Jesus immerse me with the Holy Spirit. Thank You Father for the Holy Spirit. I expect to speak in other tongues as You give me the utterance.

Now, lift your hands toward heaven as if you were a child and you wanted your Father to pick you up. Say thank You and start praising God for Holy Spirit. Praising God might sound something like this: Father I thank you for Jesus. Thank you for sending Holy Spirit and giving me my prayer language. You are a wonderful Father. Thank you for loving me. You are so good to me. Halleluiah, halleluiah, halleluiah…

Keep saying halleluiah with your own voice. As you sense an urge coming from your belly area to your vocal cords, allow yourself to give sound to whatever you sense. As you yield your tongue, you’ll speak syllables and words that are not your natural language. They’ll rise up and want release from your mouth. You have to use your own voice. You have to release the utterances the same as you’d release words in a conversation. Holy Spirit won’t force you. It’s a gentle nudge or prompting which you allow to rise and come out of your mouth.

Don’t be concerned with how it sounds. The sounds you make are the language Holy Spirit gives you and it will develop as you practice—every day.

I’ve always found it interesting that the first thing Holy Spirit wants is control of our tongue. But we have to yield to Him. Give Him permission. Like with salvation, God forces no one to receive what He has for them.

The baptism of Holy Spirit is the firepower that will change your life. You’ll never be the same.
